Newcastle-based holiday operator Parkdean could soon be offering people with static caravan insurance policies additional places to vacation, as it intends to run 40 sites within the next five years.
According to the Journal, many of the company's resorts are in the south-west of the UK and it is now looking to expand into other regions, possibly including the north-east, where it currently has no parks.
Chief executive John Waterworth explained that the future for the UK holiday market is looking strong at the moment, as Britons realise how easy it is to go on a staycation.
"We are seeing a lot of people going for weekend breaks, as well as the one big summer holiday," he remarked.
Meanwhile, a new resort - Petwood Caravan Park - has been opened in Lincolnshire by a family of farmers, boasting 98 pitches for tents, motorhomes and caravans, as well as laundry facilities, two amenity blocks and a shop, the Lincolnshire Echo reported.
