Caravan insurance customers are undoubtedly excited at the prospect of one of the north's premier caravan parks being upgraded with a whopping £500,000 budget to spend on improvements.
Just before New Year of 2012, Northumbrian Leisure announced that it would be transforming temporary pitches at Glororum Caravan Park, close to Bamburgh, into 42 state-of-the-art pitches for tourers in order to bring more caravanners into the area.
Glororum has stunning views of the coast and Bamburgh Castle that resulted in it being officially named as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is one of four north-east caravan parks that is operated by Northumbrian Leisure, which is now working hard to improve the offerings at Glororum and may roll out the scheme to other sites in the future.
Nigel Thompson, who owns and runs the organisation with his wife Sandra, told the Northumberland Gazette: "Glororum has to have one of the best locations of any caravan park in the north-east and we are keen to create facilities which match its unbeatable surroundings.
"The improvements mean we will have one of the best sites for touring caravans, which play an important part in north Northumberland's tourist trade. This is helping to create a much needed tourist resource which will attract more visitors and their spending power into the area."
