Passat Estate takes top towcar honours

The Volkswagen Passat Estate has been given the accolade of Top Towcar of the Year 2011 following a major poll of caravan enthusiasts from the UK's largest online news site. It meant that now, three organisations have named the marque as the deserving recipient of Towcar of the Year.
 
Most recently, readers of CaravanTimes were told to pick their favourite vehicle from five top towcars, and the Passat Estate was first in the list. Given that the CaravanTimes is the UK's largest online magazine for touring enthusiasts, the annual Readers' Poll forms the only award in the country voted for by the public.
 
Editor of CaravanTimes.co.uk Chris Jefferies said: "Among our forum members, Volkswagen is renowned as a reliable, practical and economical choice. The Passat Estate beat off strong competition this year and we expect to see plenty of them at campsites across the UK in 2012."
 
Back in June 2011, the Passat Estate TDI was also named number one at the Towcar Awards, judged by experts from What Car? and Practical Caravan. Meanwhile, the Jetta beat opposition at the Caravan Club Towcar of the Year Awards 2012, claiming its category (based on car price) and also grabbing Overall Towcar of the Year.
