Britons considering the possibility of heading off for a festive break at a caravan park should take extra care on the roads.
That is if comments made by Peter Rodger, chief examiner at the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), are anything to go by, as he believes making special provisions for journeys that are to be conducted in snowy, icy conditions is essential.
Many people like to get away from the hustle and bustle of Christmas by enjoying the calmness and serenity of a caravan site, but towing a portable home in winter can be treacherous.
With this in mind, Mr Rodger noted it is important for individuals to ensure all their windows are de-misted, as this will mean visibility is 100 per cent.
In addition, judging speed correctly is also important because losing control behind the wheel can be dangerous.
This comes after the Sandy Beach Caravan Park was hit with some unusual weather recently when an 80mph tornado ripped through the site.

Caravan owners may need to be wary of the threat posed to their tourers when the vehicles are kept in storage.
This is because the Sunday Sun has reported an incident that saw a woman's furnishings stolen while her tourer sat in a compound.
Jane Hemmingfield noted thieves managed to evade a newly-installed security system at the site in Wideopen, North Tyneside and took items that will cost around £1,900 to replace.
Ms Ryton observed: "My caravan has been there for years without any bother, but two years ago they removed the on-site security and replaced it with remote surveillance."
Security footage of the theft revealed the criminals gained access to the vehicle via the window before making off with a number of seats - but Ms Ryton expressed concern as to why the thieves had not been detected earlier.
Theft is just one possibility caravan owners may wish to take into account when considering their insurance policies, along with fire and accidental damage.
