Static Caravans

A Static Caravan, although having a rudimentary chassis and wheels to manoeuvre it around the holiday park, is just what it sounds like; a Static Caravan.

Static Caravans often stay on the same plot in the owner's favourite holiday park for many years.

Static Caravans for many are a home away from home and have a lot (and in some instances most) of the modern conveniences you'd find in any home.

'Statics' as they're often called usually have 2 or 3 bedrooms and sleep 6 to 8 people. The layout is often a large open plan living/dining room adjacent to a kitchen at one end of the Static caravan, then the bedrooms, shower and toilet at the other end. Some Static Caravans are insulated, double glazed and have central heating so that they can be enjoyed all year round. Those that aren't are meant for use mainly in the spring and summer months.

There are a few more overheads that you need to consider with a Static caravan, compared to owning a Touring Caravan. Some of these are:

  • Gas/Electricity - You'll need both of these to power your TV and other goodies and you'll need Gas to cook with and to keep you warm if you have central heating.
  • Rates - Just as is the case with a regular home, there will be Rates to pay for water and sewage services.
  • Insurance - Having spent so much on your home away from home you'll want to protect it with a good Caravan Insurance policy.
  • Site Fees - This is the big one. These are the fees you have to pay to keep your Static Caravan on a holiday park and to use the sites facilities and services.
