NCC Events cancel caravan show's return to ExCeL in 2013

NCC Events has announced that it will not use the world-leading facilities at ExCeL London for its much-loved Motorhome, Caravan & Camping Show in 2013 - a decision that has not been taken lightly by the organisation.

After an in-depth consultation with the venue, it was concluded that the industry had insurmountable logistical issues in relation to the movement and storage of exhibitor products during the build-up and closing stages of the event.

Notably prohibitive for the organisation was the lack of suitable on-site camping, as well as the location of ExCeL within the low emission zone of London, effectively ramping up the associated costs of exhibiting at the facility.

NCC Events chairman Anthony Trevelyan said: "Space that was allocated in 2012 for the movement and safe storage of around 650 valuable exhibitor caravans, motorhomes and holiday homes cannot now be guaranteed moving forwards. Without this space, the build-up and breakdown of the show is not feasible. We have no option but to cancel the 2013 show and seek another venue."

David Pegler, Managing Director at ExCeL London said: "We are obviously disappointed not to be welcoming the Show back for a second year but understand how important it is for show organisers to meet the requirements of their target audiences."
